Adaptive Fishing Programs for Kids with Disabilities in Utah

Our Annual Kids Fishing Day is one of the largest adaptive fishing events in Utah, giving children with disabilities and special needs the opportunity to experience the excitement of fishing in a safe, supportive, and accessible environment.

This isn’t just a day at the pond—it’s a confidence-building, life-changing outdoor experience designed specifically for kids who may not otherwise have access to fishing opportunities.

Project Goal

In 2026, our goal is to provide 1,200 children with disabilities the chance to participate in Kids Fishing Day.

Through our adaptive fishing program, kids will:

  • Learn basic fishing skills
  • Build confidence and independence
  • Experience success in the outdoors
  • Create lasting memories with family and volunteers

For many participants, this is their first time fishing—and a moment they’ll never forget.

What to Expect at Kids Fishing Day

Our Utah kids fishing event includes everything needed for a successful day:

Adaptive fishing gear and equipment

One-on-one support from trained volunteers

Lunch and refreshments

Stocked fishing areas for higher success rates

Accessible setup for all ability levels

Support KWD Adventures

For many of these kids, it’s not just about the hunt—it’s about overcoming challenges, discovering new abilities, and feeling the excitement of achievement.

Your support gives them that chance.

How You Can Get Involved

Donate

Every dollar helps us cover the costs of equipment, transportation, and adaptive gear needed to create safe, accessible hunting experiences.

Land Access

If you own property or have extra turkey tags, your contribution can provide the perfect setting for a successful child’s first turkey hunting adventure.

Volunteer

Become a mentor or guide to support our young hunters in the field. No hunting experience required—just a passion for helping kids enjoy the outdoors.

Cost of Making a Kids Fishing Day Possible

While Kids Free Fishing Day is free for the children who participate, it takes resources to create a safe, fun, and memorable experience. The average cost per child is around $50, which helps cover:

  • Fishing Gear & Supplies: Rods, reels, bait, tackle, and adaptive equipment for kids with special needs.
  • Lunch & Refreshments: Providing a nutritious, kid-friendly lunch and drinks to keep everyone energized throughout the day.
  • Transportation & Logistics: Helping kids and volunteers get to and from the event safely.
  • Volunteer Support: Providing necessary materials and resources for our dedicated volunteers who guide and assist the kids.

Your donation helps cover these costs, opening the outdoors to kids who might otherwise never have the chance to experience the joy of fishing.
